Coming from its neighbors, Guatemala and Honduras at the start of 19th century, coffee beans production exploded into becoming the country's highest output crop just five decades later. It quickly weaved its way into becoming a major player in El Salvador's economy. Despite various issues (civil war in the 1980s, domination of coffee beans from other countries such as Brazil, Vietnam and Colombia), the country still produces coffee beans of high quality thanks to its volcanic soil that is always fertile; producing great tasting coffee that is sweet, flowery and acidic in the just right amounts.

3. Pour a small amount of hot water over the grinds and allow to soak for 20-30 seconds (this blooming step is optional, best for taste). Then add the remaining hot water. Aim for 200ml, which is approximately 2/3 of a standard coffee mug.
